Here are some comments by DAD users:

 LARGE OIL AND GAS PROJECT

"TIGA JV used DAD for the design and construction of the instrumenation on the Bayu Undan Project.  On this project there were 12,500 loops.  DAD was simple to use and completely reliable.  The administration of DAD was performed by normal design staff.  We were able to configure DAD to suit our particular needs without significant effort.  Data entry was quick.  DAD fitted our normal design procedures.

Its great benefits were the cost saving over conventional methods and the accuracy off sole source data.  During construction DAD enabled the prompt handling of site queries.

As a result of the success in design ConocoPhillips have adopted DAD for long term use on the Bayu Undan facility"

REFINERY

"DAD is the instrument data base we use on the ExxonMobil Antwerp refinery.  The DAD database contains the connections and data sheet information for the complete 300,000bbl/d refinery, comprising some 15,000 loops and 120,000 components.  It is a lifetime installation supporting all our maintenance and project needs.

The DAD model was built by importing legacy information from several sources.  It was a very cost effective implementation.  DAD is interfaced to SAP for the integration of the instrumentation data into the refinery management systems.  We have found the import / export utility beneficial for bulk editing of data. The comparative openness of DAD is a real benefit.

We are pleased by the ease of use of DAD.  We operate it without any dedicated engineering or IT personnel.  We were able to commence using DAD without any formal training.  It has been secure and robust in operation.

We use DAD Gallery to distribute pdf copies of documents to most users.  It makes the integration of DAD into existing work procedures simple."

MINING

"...we have used DAD successfully now on two recent mining projects and the software is working really well for us.

So far we haven't needed all the functions in the program but the cable blocks, loop diagrams and cable schedules are working perfectly.

We plan to add more value in the development of technical data sheets associated with the instruments we use in the design ..."

FRONT END STUDIES - MINING

ProMet Engineers (ProMet) provides project management, project development and feasibility study work, process plant design and engineering services and metallurgical consultancy services to minerals and metals industry clients including iron ore beneficiation, pelletising, iron and steel making, minerals sands, tungsten, nickel, copper, coal processing and salt. ProMet utilise DAD database software to develop detailed E&I cost estimates for all projects small and large.

"DAD has helped us standardise the way we document our E&I estimates and the database reporting adds value for our clients as we can export data into future phases of the project. The tree navigation structure makes documenting and checking of equipment easy to enter and check. DAD encourages the user to think systematically and group equipment and costs into logical equipment groups that can be copied as blocks of data complete with interconnecting cabling. This enables large plants with standardised equipment to be quickly documented. The flexible reporting tools make traditional motor drive lists, instrument lists, cable schedules, bulk commodity takeoffs and the like easy to publish. To date ProMet have documented project E&I packages for both Australian based and international projects with individual project E&I capital equipment costs from $1 Million to $200 Million"
