DAD IS REALLY FLEXIBLE

To successfully design systems the software you employ must be agile.  We, I&E Systems, mostly work replacing (poorly documented) systems and often faced such challenges.  So we ensured that DAD is highly flexible.

There are no "business rules" in DAD.  The model structure gives natural rules which guide users to work in a consistent manner.  Any new data can be seen by all users once it has been entered in the model.  The history log makes it easy to access recent changes or changes in some particular part of the system.  There are simple tools to find duplicate names and other inconsistencies in the data.  There are no restrictions on the order in which you work.

DAD is not a traditional relational database.  It has an object handling layer between the user and the SQL tables.  You make your model and you can change this configuration at any time to new to new requirements.

At a simple level you can do such things as

  • Rename any object, terminal or core
  • Add, remove or edit attributes, terminals and cable cores
  • Make new equipment types, connector types and locations
  • Add or delete component
  • Add or delete connections
  • Add or delete Groups and Folders.

The links below detail how some major model restructures to show this is quick, simple and that existing data can be preserved.
